Our first day. Unfortunately, the heavens opened on the walk and we all had to wear full waterproofs. All children participated in the 5 mile walk this afternoon and then enjoyed dinner of cottage pie and chocolate sponge cake. The sun came out early evening – We then did the nightline and played in the grounds. Hot chocolate and a Jaffa cake at 9.00pm. A few whispers but all gone to bed really well … but they are all very tired!
Our second day – Boys awake first. Girls still asleep (6.45am). Breakfast at 7.30am. Groups are now staying together for the day which is fantastic. Rock-hopping, orienteering, climbing wall (if time) and camp fire with marshmallows tonight. Miss Sas went for a run this morning at 5.30am and I sent the early risers (4.30am for one of the boys!) back to sleep. Room inspection at 8.30am ….
We have had an absolutely fantastic day – bouldering, outdoor climbing wall, orienteering, lunch, rock-hopping, dinner and camp-fire (to come). All children have loved every aspect of the day and have behaved impeccably. Miss Sas is busy preparing the camp fire and the children are currently playing hide and seek. The children have eaten really well and there is lots of food for us to enjoy. The children are a credit to their families – they have certainly made me feel very proud and I have seen a completely different (positive!) side to all the children.
Campfire a great success. Children all had a shower and in bed by 9.00pm. All quiet by 9.10pm. Tomorrow morning will involve packing, cleaning the dorm, brushing and waxing the walking boots followed by the grand finale of the zipwire.
What a fantastic time we all had. The children worked together as a team, encouraged each other and were very independent. Jobs were done efficiently and the Hagg Farm staff complemented the children on their behaviour and efforts over the last 3 days. I expect most children will be worn out – I certainly am!
